My pix in Ballet Review

Ballet Review – considered the premier dance journal- is a non-profit journal published by the Dance Research Foundation, Inc. Karen Greenspan, a dance writer and frequent contributor to Ballet Review, recently sent me her article on last year’s series. Three of my photos are featured. The picture above is of Zvi Gotheiner’s Stairway performed at the Rubin Museum of Art.

Viengsay Valdés succeeds Alicia Alonso as Artistic Director of National Ballet of Cuba

Viengsay Valdés has inherited the mantle from Alicia Alonso as artistic director of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba – a position Alonso held since she, Fernando Alonso and his brother, Alberto, founded the company in 1948.

Viengsay is a thrilling dancer – and her joy communicates itself constantly. I have been fortunate to have met and photographed this truly lovely person on my visits to Cuba. She is so equipped with special qualities that her leadership is bound to be inspiring.

‘Go girl!’ as they say in the classics! Every success!!!

Carlos Acosta appointed the new artistic director of the Birmingham Royal Ballet 2020

Since I met and photographed him in 1990, I have closely followed Carlos’ career. He is one of the great ballet exports of Cuba and will be featured in my film “Cuban Ballet: Art Triumphant“.

As reported in the NY Times, Carlos will assume his new position as Director of the Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2020. I am absolutely delighted with this well-deserved recognition for him. Congratulations Carlos!
